LP Reporting

Reports

Generate the LP's own template filled in, edit the narrative, and download it.

A generated report is the LP's own template filled in — not a separately designed Nia document. That is the point of the whole cycle.

Generating

Choose the LP and the reporting period, then generate. The platform fills that LP's template from your approved data, using the field-to-KPI bindings set on KPI Mapping.

Reports can be regenerated from stored data as many times as you need. Each report freezes a snapshot of its figures, so a download later matches what was generated then.

Where the numbers come from

Every populated figure traces back to an approved investee submission or to a stored aggregation, and the aggregation records which submissions contributed to it. Nothing is populated from an unapproved source.

The narrative

A report's qualitative sections — executive summary, key metrics commentary and data-quality notes — are drafted for you and are fully editable before export. Your edits reach the exported file.

The AI-written narrative draws on your fund's knowledge library rather than being written from the numbers alone, so the wording reflects your fund's own material.

The AI narrative is switched on per environment. When it is off, the platform composes a wording-only narrative from the figures instead. Reports produced by the automatic end-of-cycle run currently generate their narrative without the knowledge-library retrieval step.

Download formats

FormatWhat you get
ExcelThe LP's own workbook filled in place — fonts, styles, layout, merges and number formats preserved
WordEach parsed table cell filled in place by its stored position — otherwise a platform-formatted fallback
PDFThe LP's own PDF filled in place, if it's a fillable form — otherwise a platform-formatted fallback

Word and PDF fill both verify before writing, and refuse rather than guess. For Word, each KPI's value goes into the exact table cell recorded when the template was parsed (by position, not by matching a field name); before writing anything, that cell is re-checked against the document's real content, and any disagreement anywhere aborts the whole fill. PDF fill only works on a genuinely fillable form (real AcroForm fields) — a flat or scanned PDF template can't be filled in place. Either refusal falls back to a platform-formatted document and says why, naming Excel (or Word, for a refused PDF) as the alternative that does carry the LP's own layout. Withheld or caveated figures are left blank on a filled template, with the reason printed on a banner page ahead of it.

For Excel, a short cover page carrying the review notice and the narrative is added ahead of the LP's own sheets. The LP's sheets themselves are left untouched.

The review notice

Every generated report carries a clear notice that it is an AI-assisted draft requiring human review, and that figures are provisional. This appears in every export format.

Delivery

Reports are delivered by download. Your fund emails the file to the LP, or fills the LP's portal from it.

Approve-and-email capability exists behind the interface but is deliberately not offered on the Reports screen. Whether reports should be sent from inside the platform is an open question with Nia; until it is settled, download is the supported route.

LP Portal Fill-In Sheet

When an LP's own online portal needs values typed in one at a time rather than a file uploaded, use LP Portal Fill-In Sheet (its own screen, next to Reports). Choose the LP and reporting period to get every mapped KPI's final approved value with its unit and any guidance, grouped for easy copying, each with a one-click copy of just the raw value — the LP's portal field already carries the unit. A KPI with no approved value for the period shows clearly rather than a blank.
