Template review

Review, edit and approve every KPI the platform extracted from an LP's template.

The review screen is the gate between what the platform read in a template and what enters your KPI dictionary. Every extracted KPI is reviewed and approved by a person — nothing is written into your dictionary automatically.

Reach it from the template name on LPs & Templates.

How rows are ordered

Extracted KPIs are sorted by how confident the platform is that it read them correctly:

TierHow it appears
High confidencePre-ticked and collapsed — glance, don't re-type
Medium / low confidenceExpanded and demanding attention

A parse-warnings band at the top carries a needs-attention count, so you know how much genuine review is left rather than scrolling to find out.

KPIs inferred from a template's filled-in values (rather than read from a definition block) are capped at medium confidence. They can never land in the pre-approved group without you seeing them.

What you can change on a row

Every field is editable before approval:

  • Include or exclude the row entirely.
  • Name, unit, theme (environmental, social, governance, impact, financial) and level (investee, GP, fund).
  • Reporting frequency — quarterly, half-yearly, annual or monthly.
  • Methodology — all eight methodology fields, including the clear definition, calculation method, numerator and denominator.

Methodology is required

A new KPI cannot be approved without methodology text. This is deliberate: methodology is what makes a number comparable between periods and between companies.

To save re-typing, blank methodology fields are pre-filled:

  1. From the KPI's existing entry in your fund's dictionary, where it already has one.
  2. Otherwise the unit alone comes from Nia's shared KPI reference library.

Two rules protect you from a pre-filled value passing for something the document actually said:

  • A pre-filled value never overwrites something the template genuinely stated.
  • Every pre-filled field is marked on screen as pre-filled.

Approving a KPI that already exists in your dictionary deliberately does not overwrite its curated methodology. On those rows the pre-filled wording is shown for reference only. Edit the KPI in the KPI Dictionary if you want to change it for good.

Approving

Approving writes the ticked rows into your fund's KPI dictionary. Where a KPI of the same name already exists, the existing KPI is updated rather than a second copy being created — KPI names are unique within a fund, case-insensitively.

Correcting a misread later

An approved template can be reopened and corrected. Approved KPIs return to a pending state so you can fix a misread name, unit or methodology and approve again.

Next step

Tidy your KPI Dictionary, then map each LP's fields to it.
